About Zack Clothier

An avid outdoorsman and self-taught photographer, Zack Clothier has been photographing the natural world for over 10 years, and has been shooting semi-professionally for the past four of those. Zack grew up in the small town of Corinth, NY, often referred to as "The Gateway to the Adirondacks". Fascinated with wildlife and nature in general he captured his first photos at the age of 13, soon replacing the old 35mm point and shoot camera with a manual SLR. These days Zack shoots exclusively with a digital SLR. Although a majority of his work is of the Adirondack Park in New York, his love of nature and wild places has taken him all over the United States. Zack's photographs have appeared in the pages of several regional and national publications such as Adirondack Life, Montana Magazine, Montana Outdoors, The UK Metro, The Star, as well as numerous others. Zack Clothier resides in the Adirondack Park, in Athol, NY.

Artist Statement
My photographs represent the natural world as I see it. These photographs are the result of my deep-seated passion for the wilderness and the wild animals that live in these hostile, sometimes unforgiving environments. With each image I attempt to bring you, the viewer, to that place, at that very moment when I clicked the shutter. With just my camera alone it is almost impossible to reproduce and convey a scene exactly as I experienced it in the field. I employ the use of today's digital darkroom along with numerous field techniques to better express what I saw and felt at that particular moment in time. Although I enjoy this entire process, just being out there exploring these magnificent landscapes is what drives me to capture them for all to see. Through my images I hope to raise awareness to help protect these natural places for future generations to come.
